Meet the Candidates Night

Thursday, October 9, 2008, 7:00 P.M

Almost no incumbents are on the ballot this fall, giving upstarts some relief from battling the advantages of incumbency. You'll need a map to follow the musical chairs needed to bring this ballot to the voters. Here's a start.

First came the blockbuster announcement that Deborah Pryce would not run for re-election to the U.S. Congress

So, Mary Jo Kilroy and Steve Stivers are battling it out for Pryce's seat.

That leaves two openings: John O'Grady and Jeffery Miller are vying for the seat Kilroy is leaving on Franklin County Commission. And Jim Hughes and Danielle Blue are competing for Stivers' open seat in the Ohio Senate.

So, John Carney is taking another run for the State Assembly seat that Hughes is required by "term limitation" rules to vacate.

We've invited the candidates to come talk to us about their qualifications, their plans and their ideas. You're invited, too.

Candidates for the following offices have agreed to be there to answer your questions: Franklin County Commissioner, ranklin County Coroner, Ohio Sate Assembly (District 22), Ohio Sate Senate (District 16), State Board of Education and U.S. Congress (House District 15).
